Data, drawn so the answer is obvious

I'm a BI and data-visualization analyst working in Power BI and Tableau. I take a question people argue about, find the data that answers it, and draw the answer so anyone can see it.

The story

Travel · Interactive map · Satellite data

Where the seaweed lands

Every summer, sargassum seaweed drifts in from the Atlantic. It hits Mexico's Caribbean coast and Punta Cana most weeks, while Aruba, Nassau and Turks & Caicos almost never see it. And along any one coast, the beach you pick matters.

Watch a year of seaweed ride in across the Atlantic, compare Caribbean coasts, then pick a destination and a travel month to see how often recent years had seaweed near the beach.

How I work

01

Lead with the answer

The title states the finding, and the charts carry the evidence. A reader should get the point from the charts alone.

02

Readable by anyone

Every chart says in plain words what its colors mean, and any term a newcomer might not know is explained right where it appears.

03

Honest about uncertainty

Every number says where it comes from and how much data is behind it, and a difference too small to trust is labeled as noise, not dressed up as a trend.

For businesses

Need dashboards or data stories?

Through Tall Order Digital I build Power BI dashboards and data visualizations for small and mid-sized businesses, bringing scattered data sources together so it's clear what's working, what isn't, and what to do next.
